REALTORS® Relief Foundation Aids Arkansas Tornado Victims with $2 Million.

Unprecedented Relief Efforts by the REALTORS® Relief Foundation

The REALTORS® Relief Foundation (RRF) has made a monumental contribution to aid Arkansas tornado victims, granting a total of $2 million to Arkansas REALTORS® to support recovery initiatives following devastating storms that claimed seven lives.

Mobilizing Emergency Assistance

REALTORS® are swiftly mobilizing emergency aid for disaster victims grappling with the aftermath of deadly tornadoes that ravaged parts of Arkansas in late May. Entire neighborhoods were leveled, and the tragic events resulted in the loss of seven lives.

This week, the REALTORS® Relief Foundation announced an additional $1 million in disaster relief for the Arkansas REALTORS® Association, bringing the total aid to $2 million. This grant marks the largest ever awarded by the foundation, underscoring the magnitude of the disaster and the urgent need for support.

The RRF, dedicated to providing housing-related assistance to disaster victims, is actively seeking donations from NAR members and REALTOR® associations to achieve a $1 million fundraising goal for Homeownership Month in June.

Devastation in Northern Arkansas

On May 26, seven tornadoes tore through parts of northern Arkansas, wreaking havoc in Boone, Marion, Baxter, and Benton counties. With wind gusts reaching up to 154 miles per hour, these tornadoes obliterated homes and buildings, uprooted trees, and knocked down power lines, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.

“These tornadoes have had a massive impact on families throughout Arkansas, and our hearts go out to all those affected,”

says RRF President Mike McGrew.

“This grant is not only a reflection of the selfless support of our donors and state and local association partners, but it also acknowledges the incredible work being done by Arkansas REALTORS® in reaching out to the communities affected. We are committed to providing tangible aid to those rebuilding their lives during this challenging time.”

Community Efforts and Support

In the wake of the disaster, real estate brokerages in Arkansas have played a pivotal role in relief efforts. Several brokerages have opened their doors to facilitate donation drives, collecting essential supplies to assist the affected communities. Mere hours after the tornadoes struck, the Northwest Arkansas Board of REALTORS® transformed its building into a command center, coordinating aid such as food, water, diapers, and pet food.

Additionally, the board set up activity areas for children and workstations for adults, ensuring a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos. Local brokerages also contributed by catering hot dinners for the victims, providing much-needed nourishment and comfort.

Accessing Financial Aid

Victims of the tornadoes can apply for financial aid through the RRF grants as rebuilding efforts continue. This financial support is crucial for families striving to rebuild their homes and lives in the aftermath of such a catastrophic event.

RRF’s Legacy of Support

Since its establishment in 2001, the REALTORS® Relief Foundation has distributed more than $43 million in disaster relief, assisting over 23,000 families.

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) collaborates with state and local REALTOR® associations to cover all administrative costs, ensuring that 100% of donations go directly to disaster victims. This commitment to transparency and efficiency highlights the RRF’s dedication to making a meaningful impact in times of crisis.
